Sarah Khan Responds to “Sher” vs “Ram Leela” Comparisons
The debate continues as anticipation builds for Sher's premiere.

The first teaser for the upcoming Pakistani drama Sher, starring Sarah Khan and Danish Taimoor, has sparked widespread debate online due to its striking resemblance to a pivotal scene from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2013 Bollywood film Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela.
The teaser features both leads in a dramatic standoff, guns drawn, with Sarah Khan in a vibrant ghagra choli-visuals and styling that closely echo Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s iconic confrontation in Ram-Leela.
Social media users were quick to accuse the drama of copying not just the scene’s choreography, but also its costumes and overall aesthetic, leading to allegations of plagiarism and a heated debate about originality in Pakistani television.
In response to the controversy, Sarah Khan addressed the comparisons during a recent media interaction.
She acknowledged that while the teaser’s visuals and style were inspired by Ram-Leela, the actual storyline of Sher is entirely original and not derived from the Bollywood film.
She emphasised:
“If you watch the teaser carefully you will come to know about the whole story. The story of Sher isn’t inspired by Raam Leela. Yes, you can say that the teaser is inspired by Raam Leela. As I already said, the teaser will give you an insight into the story about the main leads and their family backgrounds.”
Sarah’s comments aimed to draw a clear distinction between stylistic inspiration and narrative copying-asserting that Sher has its own unique plot and character.
