The fifth installment of the globally famous “Rambo” franchise, “Rambo: Last Blood,” is all set to hit theaters on 20th September 2019.
Sylvester Stallone gives his final performance as John Rambo in the fifth installment of the franchise, 37 years after the series launched with “First Blood.”
Stallone, who was 36 when the first film premiered, will be 73 at “Last Blood’s” release.
According to the official synopsis for the new film, Rambo teams up with a journalist to track down and rescue a group of local girls that have been kidnapped by a Mexican sex trafficking ring, after trying to settle down to a quiet peaceful life stateside at the family ranch in Arizona after spending decades abroad.
The film also stars Paz Vega, Sergio Peris-Mencheta and Yvette Monreal. Adrian Goldberg is directing from a screenplay by Stallone and Matthew Cirulnick.
The first film of the series, First Blood, was released in October 1982 and its commercial success produced two sequels, Rambo: First Blood: Part II in May 1985 and Rambo III in May 1988, which were also blockbusters.
Right from the beginning, John Rambo was one of the iconic Hollywood movie characters. The recent addition to the Rambo film franchise was released 10 years ago in January 2008, titled Rambo making it its 4th part.
The four Rambo films have grossed a combined 728 million dollars in worldwide box office, led by 300 million dollars for “Rambo: First Blood Part II.”
