Winners of the 82nd Golden Globe Awards Announced!

The 82nd Golden Globe Awards were held on January 5, at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. 

The 2025 Golden Globes have concluded, with acclaimed titles like Wicked, Shogun, Baby Reindeer, and The Penguin winning big, while major contenders such as Moana 2, Deadpool & Wolverine, and Dune: Part 2 left empty-handed.

Host Nikki Glaser kicked off the night with sharp humour, poking fun at streaming services and celebrities. Her jokes included a playful jab at Timothée Chalamet and a humorous take on the evening being “Ozempic’s biggest night”

Surreal narco-musical Emilia Pérez emerged as the standout film at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, winning four awards, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. Directed by Jacques Audiard, the film received ten nominations, the highest for any film this year. It tells the story of a Mexican drug lord transitioning to life as a woman.

Despite high expectations, the musical Wicked only secured one award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, raising questions about its future in awards season.

Meanwhile, the Japanese historical drama Shōgun, took home the award for best TV drama, plus best actor, supporting actor, and actress.

The event concluded with a powerful message from Karla Sofìa Gascón, the trans star of Emilia Pérez, who made an emotional appeal for acceptance and hope, emphasizing the importance of overcoming darkness with light
