Yumna Zaidi’s Nayab Shines at the 30th Listapad International Film Festival

In a remarkable achievement for Pakistani cinema, Yumna Zaidi’s film “Nayab” won the Special Diploma of the Judges at the prestigious 30th Listapad International Film Festival held in Minsk, Belarus.
As reported, the Government of Pakistan played a pivotal role in this success by officially sending “Nayab” to participate in the festival.
The film was part of a competitive lineup that included 3,400 applications from 124 countries, showcasing a diverse array of cinematic talent from around the globe.
The ambassador of Pakistan in Belarus accepted the award on behalf of the film, symbolizing national pride and cultural representation on an international stage.
This Jury Award not only celebrates the artistic merit of “Nayab” but also reflects the growing recognition of Pakistani films in international forums.
Congratulations are in order for the entire team behind “Nayab,” as this achievement brings honour to Pakistan and sets a promising precedent for future cinematic endeavours.
Director Umair Nasir Ali helmed Nayab, which features Yumna Zaidi in the titular role of a Karachiite girl who has a passion for cricket but is hesitant due to society’s pressure and a lack of opportunities.
The script of Nayab is written by the famed Laal Kabootar duo Ali Abbas Naqvi and Basit Naqvi.
As per the film’s official synopsis, Nayab is about “a girl’s cricket dreams, her brother’s past and the family’s deep journey converge in this relatable coming-of-age story.”
The star cast of the film also includes Jawed Sheikh, M. Fawad Khan, Usama Khan, Ehteshamuddin, Huma Nawab, Noreen Gulwani and Hani Taha.
