The 28-year model was one of the passengers on the ill-fated PIA flight PK 8303, that crashed in a residential area of Karachi on 22 May 2020.

Zara was headed for Karachi from Lahore on the death of a family member.

The 19th Lux Style Awards nominees for the Best Model category also included Sadaf Kanwal, Anam Malik, and Fahmeen Ansari.

However, Zara has been the only model to be nominated in the same category for four years in a row only. But had to receive the award this time after her demise.
