Pakistan’s war hero Muhammad Mehmood Alam, widely known with the name MM Alam is being remembered on his sixth death anniversary. MM Alam, who served as a pilot in Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and downed five Indian Air Force (IAF) jets in less than the duration of one minute during the 1965 war set world record for Pakistan in the history of air force shooting the most jets in shortest time.
The national hero of Pakistan was posted at Sargodha during the Indo-Pak war of 1965, was flying his F-86 Sabre Fighter jet where he proved his bravery and the sheer love for his country while involving a dogfight with IAF’s jets and downed more than nine Indian fighter jets, six Hawkers Hunters and damaged two aircrafts.
To mark his bravery for destroying Indian jets and dedication towards his service for Pakistan Air Force, the government of Pakistan awarded MM Alam with the titles of “Falcon” and “Little Dragon” who shattered the heinous attempt of Pakistan’s enemy.
The fighter of Pakistan was awarded the third highest military honour of ‘Sitara-e-Jurrat’.
Alam was retired from PAF in 1982 as an Air commodore and resided in Karachi. He was died on 18th of March, 2013 at age 77 after a prolonged illness and buried at the Shuhda Qabristan at PAF Base Masoor in Mauripur.
