Yet another good-bye to a year that witnessed the most promising among the previous ones, a year in which the media industry of Pakistan reached new milestones and in the gross it made the country proud for the reason it brought out the best in Pakistan’s showbiz industry in decades and honoured various mega events as its achievement.

Here we’ll have a look on some of the biggest showbiz’s events of 2018:

The ‘Junoon’ reunion concert

One of the mega events of 2018 is Junoon reunion that wins the heart of people when Pakistan’s most iconic rock band performed live after more than a decade-long hiatus. On Tuesday, 25th of December, Karachiites witnessed the biggest band from South Asia come together after 13 years. Junoon finally reunited for a concert and gave Karachi a night to remember forever. The popular Sufi rock band, performed at their ‘Reunion Concert’ and social media users in the country flooded various platforms with pictures and videos from the performance.

Their performance in Karachi, at the Moin Khan Academy, was a night to remember. The concert began with the song ‘Jazba Junoon’ and many tweeps from the country were seen reminiscing their favourite songs online.

After much speculation, rumours and conversations over the past decade, on whether fans would ever get to see the Pakistani rock legends perform again, the concert was confirmed in August. And that’s not it. Members Ali Azmat, Salman Ahmad and Brian O’Connell will be heading to Dubai in January for their next concert.

4th Faiz International Festival

The most -awiated fourth Faiz International Festival held at Alhamra Arts Council Lahore with packed crowds from November 16 to November 18 , as people made their way to celebrate the life, works and beliefs of the late great Urdu poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz.

Famous Indian poet Javed Akhtar and Bollywood veteran actor Shabana Azmi also made threir journey to Pakistan to attend the mega event.

Shabana Azmi with her poet and film lyricist husband, Javed Akhtar, who also took part in the festival, deliver talks alongside other contemporary poets, including Amjad Islam Amjad.

In the event, more than 100 scholars, speakers and panelists have participated. More than 30 national and international artists had also spell bounded the audience.

Pakistan International Film Festival (PIFF)

2018 witnessed another mega event of Pakistan International Film Festival (PIFF) in Karachi, The four-day Film Mela ran from 29 march to 1st April 2018, that included film premieres and special screenings in the categories of feature length films, documentaries and short films, panel discussions and workshops which were held at various venues in Karachi.

The festival was followed by a star studded gala awards night where bigwigs of Pakistan entertainment industry and international delegation of film makers, writers and actors and artists were also present to represent their countries.

 

During PIFF Indian actor and director Nandita Das and critically acclaimed filmmaker S.S.Rajamouli, Vishal Bhardwaj and Hindi Medium director Saket Chawdhari, set foot on Pakistani soil after an extensive gap of many years.

Hum Awards 2018

Pakistan’s biggest awards show Hum Awards 2018 was yet another big event that took place on 28th July 2018 in Toronto with almost the whole Pakistani entertainment industry was there to celebrate the talent and achievements of the previous year.

Although, the awards show had caused quite whirl with some celebs couldn’t cast their votes as they had to leave ahead of general elections 2018 before the 25th August for the rehearsals of the Hum Awards in Toronto, Canada. It was fully criticized to the stars for not performing their civic duty.

Nonetheless, the Hum Awards took place as planned and the awards have been given away to the deserving nominees.

Pantene HUM Bridal Couture Week (PHBCW) 2018

Pantene HUM Bridal Couture Week (PHBCW) rolled its red carpet on December 7, 2018. The country’s acclaimed couturiers, bridals wear designers and retail brands set the stage on fire with their bedazzling, sui generis making their unique style statements on 7, 8 and 9 of Dec 2018.

The event witnessed high end celebrities on the ramp as showstoppers for the country’s top and growing designers.

PHBCW 2018 was directed by supermodel Vaneeza Ahmed. Hamna Amir was the official jewellery partner while Hair and Makeup was by the iconic Nabila.

Mountain Dew Gamers Arena

Mountain Dew event held in October 4, 2018. A ton of celebs and people attended the launch event at the Royal Palms, Lahore where the brand announced to bringing adventurous gaming challenges to Pakistan.

The event marked the official launch of the competition and unveiled a thrilling TVC announcing Mountain Dew Gamers Arena, followed by the trophy reveal for the competition.

The event was concluded with many exciting performances that were fully enjoyed by the crowd.

Aiman Khan and Muneeb Butt Wedding

Aiman Khan and Muneeb Butt for about four years of relationship tied the knot this year. Aiman and Muneeb wedding was one of the longest weddings of the year followed by various receptions and every event was grand. Aiman Khan and Muneeb Butt’s wedding was also one of the most talked about wedding this year.
