Denmark’s Victoria Kjær Theilvig Crowned Miss Universe 2024

This year's Miss Universe competition was notable for its inclusivity, allowing women over the age of 28 to participate for the first time in its 72-year history.

Victoria Kjær Theilvig from Denmark has been crowned Miss Universe 2024, marking a historic achievement as she becomes the first contestant from Denmark to win this prestigious title.

The event took place in Mexico City, where Theilvig, a 21-year-old entrepreneur and competitive dancer, triumphed over 126 other participants during the annual beauty pageant held on November 16, 2024.

The grand finale was hosted at the Arena CDMX and featured performances by artists such as Robin Thicke. Theilvig received her crown from the outgoing titleholder, Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua, amidst cheers from fellow contestants.

In her winning moment, Theilvig emphasized the importance of empathy and action, stating that a Miss Universe should advocate for those without a voice.

Theilvig’s journey in beauty pageants began with the Miss Denmark competition, where she gained recognition by placing in the Top 20 at Miss Grand International in 2022. She is known for her advocacy for mental health and animal rights, and she holds a degree in business and marketing.

Following her victory, Chidimma Adetshina from Nigeria was named first runner-up, while Maria Fernanda Beltran from Mexico secured the second runner-up position.

This year’s Miss Universe competition was notable for its inclusivity, allowing women over the age of 28 to participate for the first time in its 72-year history. This change reflects a broader effort to modernize the pageant and adapt to evolving societal norms.
