Almost all of the world has come under the tight grip of Coronavirus as it has now affected over 300,000 people on the globe. French designer brands are however taking a different approach to combat the crisis that has also dented their pockets.

In an attempt to combat the pandemic and play their role in facilitating health services, French designer house Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent, Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, and Italian brand Gucci are gearing up to produce protective gears, masks, and sanitizers to aide the French and Italian public.

“The French workshops of Kering’s houses Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent are preparing to manufacture masks while complying with the strictest health protection measures for their staff members,” said a statement by Kering, the parent company of YSL and Balenciaga.

Alongside Kering also shared its plan of importing three million surgical masks from China to distribute among the needy segment.

Another French brand Louis Vuitton has redirected its resources to manufacture hand gel sanitizers at three perfume and cosmetic companies to support the fight against Coronavirus.

On the other hand, Kering’s Italian brand Gucci has also announced a donation of 1.1 million masks and 55,000 protective clothing equipment to Italian health services.
