Giorgio Armani to Miss Milan Men’s Fashion Week Shows for First Time

Armani will be absent from the Emporio Armani show scheduled for Saturday and the Giorgio Armani menswear presentation on Monday.

Giorgio Armani, the iconic Italian fashion designer, will miss his brand’s two highly anticipated shows at Milan’s Men’s Fashion Week for the first time in his illustrious career.

The 90-year-old designer, who will turn 91 in July, is currently recovering at home after spending several days in a Milan hospital, according to reports and a company statement released on Friday.

The statement did not disclose specific details about his health condition but emphasised that Armani has worked with his usual dedication on the Spring Summer 2026 collections to be showcased.

Armani will be absent from the Emporio Armani show scheduled for Saturday and the Giorgio Armani menswear presentation on Monday. Known affectionately as “Re Giorgio,” he is renowned for personally overseeing every detail of his collections and business operations, including styling models’ hair before they hit the runway.

Traditionally, Armani greets the audience with a final bow at the end of each show. This time, Leo Dell’Orco, head of menswear design and longtime collaborator, will take on that role in his stead.

This year also marks the 50th anniversary of Armani’s eponymous fashion house, a milestone that underscores his enduring influence on the fashion industry. Despite his absence, Armani will closely monitor every phase of the shows remotely.

The designer has previously indicated plans to retire within the next two to three years, making this a significant moment in the evolution of his brand and legacy.
