The night of the 7th Hum Awards 2019 was a gala affair in Houston. Celebrities from Pakistan and the Pakistani community in the USA came down in droves to celebrate the best in television from the country.
The real talent was appreciated and the winners very much coincided with what we had thought so far. However, one thing that put a damper on our spirits was the fact that the red carpet at the Hum Awards didn’t turn out to be as exciting as it usually is.
There were more failures, more disasters and more cringe-worthy moments on the red carpet that actual impressive apparels.
Let’s take a look at who wore what and how they looked like at the 7th Hum Awards.
Now that’s what we call an absolute disaster. Silver stripes with that cringe-y color of blue just didn’t do the trick for Sanam. Although we did like the Sana Safinaz number she wore later for her hosting segment.
A very talented actress but a disaster when it came to the fashion department at the red carpet. Yumna Zaidi won the jury award for best actress, much deserved for her performance in Dar Si Jati Hai Sila, but she didn’t do wonders with her outfit this time.
All the beige on black and ruffles didn’t do the trick for Kubra. Although she’s one gorgeous lady, her outfit killed her vibe at the red carpet this year. We expect more from Kubra in the fashion department always since she’s given us looks to die for at more than one occasion.
All the frills and ruffles didn’t do the trick for Kinza Hashmi too. Too much lace and frill was a major disaster for Kinza Hashmi. The hairdo too didn’t suit the actress too.
Too much vibrancy with the colors and all the flare, Hajra Yamin’s dress looked more like a comfortable blanket than what she ought to wear at the red carpet of a huge event.
Mawra’s dress seems simply plucked out of a mehendi. The color, the cut, and her accessories all went with the mehendi theme more aptly than an awards night. Although we did like the crescent-shaped clutch Mawra carried along.
Too much glitter no? We could have let Iqra go by but her Nomi Ansari ensemble turned out to be a complete menace. Although Iqra’s makeup and hairdo were on point, the color of the dress, the cut, the ruffles and of course the shiny sequences didn’t really do anything to wow us over.
Although her dress too channeled some serious shadi vibes, the truth is Sarah Khan looked absolutely gorgeous in her outfit. Whites and golds have been age-old safe combinations and Sarah did look beautiful indeed, playing it safe.
Perhaps it was only Amar Khan who could pull off ruffles with a flare this year. The lady absolutely killed it in her Lajwanti outfit, complete with killer smoky eyes and just perfect accessories.

Ayesha Omar played it safe with her Hollywood inspired Nomi Ansari coral number. She looked gorgeous but we just wished it had a little less of the frills.
