Jimmie Martin Accuses Pakistani Event Planner of Plagiarism

London based luxury brand Jimmie Martin that deals in customized furniture, lamps, and other interior decor items, have accused Pakistani event planner Raka Events of copying their designs at an event recently.

The event Kidney Centre Brunch, an annual event in Karachi was organized by Raka Events who used Jimmie Martin’s inspired cushions, mirrors and statue props. The move came as a shock to the designer brand that was tagged on Instagram by a fan.

Taking it to their official Instagram account, Jimmie Martin too shared the snapshots of the event and expressed their thoughts on how to go about plagiarism.

The designer later confirmed Dawn Images that they have hired a Karachi based law firm to pursue legal action against Raka Events.

On the other end, Amina Rashid Khan, founder of Raka Events has denied the allegations as she stated that she merely took inspiration from the designer brand and did not claim it to be her artwork at the event.

“I am neither an interior designer nor a furniture/homeware manufacturer or retailer. I am also not an artist nor do I take credit as one. I am not Jimmie Martin’s competitor and in fact, am not even working in the same field,” said Amina while talking to Images.

“My job is simply to implement a theme for events mainly using one-time props creating an illusion for the attendees and nothing more. It’s very similar to a Disney, Michael Jackson, Great Gatsby or Andy Warhol themed event,” added the event planner who also shared that the invitation cards to the event had Jimmie Martin’s name on it.
