Oyeyeah Picks Bakhtawar’s Engagement as Pakistan’s Fashion Moment of 2020

Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari’s engagement has been picked by Oyeyeah as Pakistan’s fashion moment of the year 2020.

The fashion world saw a totally different year like other fields of life owing to the global pandemic. The new normal of the COVID-19 left several brands and designers redefining their fashion statement.

With a number of fashion shows getting canceled and moving to the virtual world.

In midst of all of this here at Oyeyeah, we think Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari’s engagement was the top moment of the 2020 fashion world.

The high-profile event was the center of attraction as the daughter of Pakistan’s first female prime minister Benazir Bhutto was all grown up in front of the entire nation to start a new journey of her life.

And the moment the photos of the event were shared officially, everyone was left spellbound.

Bakhtawar looked very pretty all in smiles donning a simple pink coloured dress on a fairy tale sort of decorations. But what stole the show was her designer shawl, specially made for the occasion.

Bakhtawat later took to social media sharing the details of the contemporary fashion accessory that was created for her big day.

“Wanted to showcase #ShawlDetails beautiful craftsmanship in fabric and thread by @nidaazweratelier & her team of very talented Pakistanis who specialise in fine handcraft. I really wanted my mother to be part of this very special moment. The design of the shawl is divided into three chapters (two pallus) telling two different stories,” writes BBZ.

Highlighting the details, she further added,”One side is embroidered with images and childhood memories of us growing up in Islamabad and the other side captures the start of my next chapter in life where a scene is set where the groom can be seen arriving with a ring and preparations are in place for the engagement event. The central panel is etched with the sun and the sky, with beautiful birds flying on it holding together the two chapters of life.”

“We took inspiration and inference from old Mughal miniature paintings depicting moments of life and scenery, but we translated everyday life with a lot of fun and relevance – the groom is seen in a window ready to March but the bride is on the other side preoccupied with her phone/Instagram/music,” shared Bakhtawar in a social media post with a closeup of her shawl details.
