Pierre Cardin acclaimed fashion designer whose Space Age style was among the iconic looks of 20th-century fashion, passed away aged 98 in France on Tuesday.
Cardin died at the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine, just outside Paris, his family told the Agence France-Presse.

His futuristic creations were worn by stars including Elizabeth Taylor, The Beatles, and Lauren Bacall, and was responsible for redefining fashion’s business model as he built an international empire of licensed products.
He was born in Italy in 1922 and moved to France during his childhood and became a tailor’s apprentice at age 14.
He worked as an assistant in the House of Paquin and also worked with Jean Cocteau, Elsa Schiaparelli, and Christian Dior.
