Billy Porter to Play Fairy Godmother in Sony’s Cinderella

Billy Porter, famously known for his infamous fashion statements, has signed Sony’s upcoming flick Cinderella. Starring as Fairy Godmother the actor will share the screen with Camila Cabello.

While details of the much-anticipated project have not surfaced yet, it is expected that the movie will have quite a different approach from Sony’s adaptation.

Further casting of the movie has not been confirmed but seeing Billy and Camila the anticipation has increased manifolds. The movie hasn’t even gotten a released date yet.

Reportedly, the film is being produced by James Corden along with Leo Pearlman. Reports further suggests that the idea for the adaptation apparently came from Corden’s idea. The adaptation is going to be a modern retelling of the classic story.

And it will be interesting to watch Porter step into fairy godmother’s character in the musical adaptation, who has recently earned an Emmy for the outstanding lead actor for his role in the FX series Pose.
