Disney shares the first look of live-action ‘Aladdin’

The first official teaser of Disney’s much anticipated live action remake of 1992 animated hit film “Aladdin” is out. It gives the glimpse of the newcomer Mena Massoud in the title role while picking up the magic lamp.

The teaser begins with the bird’s eye view of the fiction city of “Agrabah”, where the famous story takes place and the parrot “Iago” flying in the sky. who is presumably the Jafar’s companion.

The scene later transcends to the legendary “Cave of Wonders”, where Jafar is standing out at the cave mouth. Aladdin disappears inside the cave while a voice speaks that “Only one may enter here, one whose worth lies far within, the diamond in the rough.”

Mena Massoud appeared in Amazon’s “Jack Ryan” series and was cast in this role in July 2017. Noami Scott is playing Jasmine. Will Smith is the voice of Genie, this role was made famous by the Robin Williams in the original film. While, Marwan Kenzari will portray Jafar.

This film is helmed by Guy Ritchie with original composer Alan Menken reported to be collaborating with Benj Pasek and Justin Paul on new songs. John August has written the script of new “Aladdin”, his credits include “Big Fish”.

The live-action Aladdin with hit the theatres in May 24, 2019.
