A glimpse at Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Manto trailer: “He wrote as he saw. He spoke as he thought”

The much awaited Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer, Manto’s trailer is officially released. One word for his performance in this role, could be “spectacular”, though it is not a sexy or glamorized character. But Nawazuddin’s performance in this film is making rounds all over the social media. He has flawlessly molded himself as Saadat Hassan Manto, renowned author and playwright. The trailer says, “He wrote as he saw. He spoke as he thought”.

2 minutes and 22 seconds duration trailer is yet enough to give the clear glimpse of the film and its story. The historical events intervened with fabulous screen play bring the life and events of Manto’s life in pre to post partition era. A perfect picture is presented of the rebel termed writer who always wrote about the harsh reality and truth of the society.

Manto, the film, also provides the glimpse of the court case, which was filed against Manto for his short story “Thanda Gosht”. If you have read the story, even the mentioning its name is enough to give you goosebumps. Trailer also mentions, how Manto framed women’s character in his stories.

Directed by Nandita Das, film is slated for 21st September cinema release. The other artists featuring in other main roles are Abid Ali Abid as lyricist Javed Akhtar and Chandan Roy Sanyal as Manto’s close friend Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi. Rishi Kapoor plays a small role of a film producer and Rajashri Deshpande plays Ismat Chughtai. Jaddanbai is being played by Ila Arun while Tillotama Shome portrays the role of a prostitute.
