Pakistan has truly come to a point, where we can say that our films are rather interesting and can give any good Bollywood movie a run for its money. We might not have Shahrukh Khan or Salman Khan whose films open up to 10 crores but slowly and gradually we’re getting there. Our films have begun to inspire filmmakers across the border (a recent example of Actor in Law inspiring Shahid Kapoor’s Batti Gul Meter Chaalu) and even the audience eagerly waits to see Pakistani films release across the border as well.
Amongst all this, what comes as a great news and a morale booster is the fact that the recently released film, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 has gone on to become the biggest earner of all Pakistani films released ever.
According to the distributors, JPNA 2 has grossed over Rs. 60 crores worldwide with a breakdown of Rs. 43.94 crores in Pakistan only.
The Nadeem Baig directorial sees a sequel to the hit comedy Jawani Phir Nahi Ani and revolves around the characters played by Humayun Saeed, Kubra Khan, Fahad Mustafa and Mawra Hocane with Ahmed Ali Butt, Vasay Chaudhry, Sarwat Gillani and Uzma Khan reprising their supporting roles from the prequel.
Earlier it was Nadeem Baig’s another directorial venture starring Humayun Saeed and Mehwish Hayat, Punjab Nahi Jaungi, that shattered records and became the highest Pakistani grosser of all times. Now the title is being enjoyed by the same team’s third project, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2.
Here’s wishing the awesome team more hits to come and some more big numbers as well.
