John Abraham’s film in trouble for hurting Shia sentiments
The trailer of ‘Satyameva Jayate’ released recently but failed to impress the many. However, it still managed to make headlines for hurting a religious group.
BJP minority Front General Secretary Syed Ali Jafri has lodged a complaint in Hyderabad against the movie claiming it hurts the sentiments of Shia community.
Syed’s stated, “There is one shot in the trailer which shows the festival of Muharram and it depicts a scene of Matam (self-flagellation). The actor is later shown committing a murder following Matam. This has hurt our sentiments.”
While director Milap Zaveri avoided from commenting, a senior member of the Central Board Of Film Certification reported, “Let the film come to us. We will get an expert panel to view it. If the panel feels the reference to Muharram is actually offensive then we will immediately remove it. The CBFC is very clear on religious matters. No community must be offended in the name of freedom of expression.”
The makers have recently released the new version of Sushmita Sen and Sanjay Kapoor’s iconic song ‘Dilbar’. The video has been going viral with unstoppable views on Youtube. The song features actress and renowned belly dancer Nora Fatehi and John Abraham.
