Joker’s Release Could Incite Violence, Los Angeles Police Remains Vigilant

Joker is soon set to release and while the fans might be amped up for the villain to come back as a hero, the Los Angeles Police Department is concerned over possibility of violent act as a result of the film’s content.

“While there have been no credible threats in the Los Angeles area, the department will maintain high visibility around movie theaters when it opens next week,” said Rosie Cervantes, spokesperson for LAPD, while talking to AFP.

She added, “We encourage everyone to go out and enjoy all of the weekend leisure activities this city has to offer, however, Angelenos should remain vigilant and always be aware of your surroundings.”

The movie starring Joaquin Phoenix as the infamous Batman villain Joker, will reflect on a protagonist positive side of the notorious psychopath. The movie will revolve around the pre-villain age of Joker when as a depressed teenager he was continuously rejected while making career as a standup comedian.

Joker is releasing seven years after 12 people were killed by a violent gunman at the opening of Batman film “The Dark Knight Rises.

The families of the victims have also raised concern over the content of the upcoming movie.

“When we learned that Warner Bros. was releasing a movie called ´Joker´ that presents the character as a protagonist with a sympathetic origin story, it gave us pause,” said the families in an open letter published in Hollywood trade magazine.
