Kumail Nanjiani to star in “Men in Black” spin off

Kumail Nanjiani will be joining the cast of Men in Black spinoff alongside British actor Rafe Spall. The new untitled Men in Black film is being reported to be directed by F. Gary Gray, director of Straight Outta Compton, The Fate of the Furious and is been written by Matt Holloway & Art Marcum, who also wrote Iron Man, Transformers: The Last Knight. Franchise’s original producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are back along with executive producer Steven Spielberg.

Other cast of the spin-off also includes Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, and Liam Neeson, according to media reports. The film is slated for a June 14, 2019 release. Street-dancing duo Laurent Nicolas and Larry Nicolas Bourgeois, known as the Les Twins will also be joining star cast.
The original Men in Black, came out 21 years ago in the summer of 1997, and grossed 589 million dollars worldwide, starring the winning combo of Smith and Jones. Its sequel, Men in Black II in 2002 grossed 441 million dollars worldwide. While in 2012 the Men in Black 3 earned $642 million worldwide.

Plot details for this “Man in Black” new movie have not been revealed yet, but the film is said to take place in London and centers with new combination of characters and is more of an ensemble film than a duo like the first three movies. It will not feature Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, but it will expand on the world of the original trilogy.

Kumail Nanjiani is known worldwide for starring in the Oscar-nominated film “The Big Sick”  which was also written by him alongside his wife Emily Gordon and starring as Dinesh Chugtai on HBO’s Silicon Valley.
