Laal Kabootar which was released earlier this year garnered quite a lot of praise from critics and fans for its unconventional storyline and strong acting. Starring Mansha Pasha and Ahmed Ali Akbar in leads, the movie won hearts of many, including celebrities.
Now, the movie has acquired another feather in its cap as it has become Pakistan’s representation in Oscar 2020.
Selected under the category of ‘International Feature Film Award’, Laal Kabootar has been nominated by Pakistani Academy Selection Committee for the 92nd Academy Awards.
The selection committee comprised of renowned individuals from all walks of media, including Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Zeba Bakhtiar, Sarmad Khoosat, Sanam Saeed, Asim Abbasi, Rizwan Beyg, Zarrar Khuhro, Jamil Baig, Zebunnisa Hamid, and Hamna Zubair.
As the news came out, celebrities came forward to congratulate the star cast and makers of the film.
Lead actress Mansha Pasha was the first one to rejoice at the news, as she shared the accomplishment with fans and friends.
“Our film Laal Kabootar has been selected as Pakistans submission to the #oscars! Laal Kabootar is a gift that keeps on giving and truly one of its kind! To me, it stands as a landmark project within my 6-year career. Thank u Allah and hugs to the team!” wrote Mansha.
After Mansha’s tweet, many celebrities took it to Twitter to share their happiness.
“Congratulationsss!! Omg! Cannot think of a more deserving person. I’m so happy for you babe,” replied actress Armeena Khan on Mansha’s tweet.
“Laalkabootar selected from #Pakistan for the #Oscars2020 So so proud! Congratsssss @manshapasha @kamaltkhan. So happy for you guys! Rooting for you!” Ayesha Omar had to say.
Actress Mehwish Hayat too came forward to congratulate the team, “Congratulations to you and the team ! Sending love and blessings. #PakistanZindabad,” she wrote.
Furthermore, Asad Siddiqui and Shaista Lodhi were amongst the celebrities who rejoiced at the moment.
“This is great news and a proud moment. Congratulations to the whole team of #LaalKabootar especially,” said Asad Siddiqui on his Twitter.
“Congratulations to you and rest of the team. Also great news for Pakistan! Make us Proud!” wrote television host Shaista Lodhi.
