Reham Khan criticizes film Cake’s nomination for Oscars

As we all know that Cake has been shortlisted for the Oscars nominations and is being selected by the  honorable committee  with diversified  backgrounds and fields. Well, some people are still not happy with Cake’s selection for the nominations for Oscars, that includes Reham Khan, IK’s former wife!

Yes, Reham Khan has shared her criticism in a tweet over the selection of the film Cake.  She has linked it with present political scenario. According to her the committee got influenced and selected this film only because the producer of the film Zulfi Bokhari is a close friend of PM Imran Khan.  Recently Sayed Zulfi Bokhari was appointed as a special assistant to Imran Khan on overseas Pakistanis and human resource development.

The film  director, actors and the committee members were annoyed with this whimsical criticism.  Internationally acclaimed novelist  and one of the committee member Kamila Shamsie was quick to reply on Reham Khan’s criticism by saying that she do not know that producer is friend of PM all she knows is that Cake is the best film in the running.

Actor Adnan Malik has also shared his views, he tweeted,  “What an odd & unfair assertion, completely disregarding the integrity of the respectable Oscar committee members with diverse political ideologies, as well as the calibre of the film itself, which was critically acclaimed across the board (including 4 stars in the guardian, U.K.)”.

Film director Asim Abbasi also responded to Reham’s tweet. He Tweeted, “I understand that our storytelling (unlike her storytelling) lacked drama and masala. But still, what a strange insinuation, discounting our hard work and the committee’s decision making,”

He further shared how he teamed up with Zulfi Bokhari, “In 2016, when I showed the script of Cake to one of the leading TV channels of Pakistan, they laughed me out of their offices. That is when Zulfi came in to help me produce it with one condition: Make a film that we can be proud of.”
