Scarlett Johansson lands $15 million payday for standalone Black Widow film

The matter of pay gap has been a prevailing issue in Hollywood from a long time, there has been a lot of criticism and debate over it. But finally there is a news of equal pay for a female actor in the lead role.

Scarlett Johansson has been reported to land a 15 million dollar pay day for the upcoming Black Widow Film. Scarlett Johansson has previously appeared in six movies as Black Widow and now she gets her standalone Marvel film as super heroine.

This has been confirmed by multiple knowledgeable sources that Johansson’s Black Widow pay figure to THR. In response to this, a Marvel spokesperson, said in a statement that, “Marvel Studios disputes the accuracy of these numbers, and as a matter of policy, we never publicly disclose salaries or deal terms.”

This is the same figure of salary amount which was being received by Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth for playing Captain America and Thor, respectively, in this year’s Avengers: Infinity War. Evans and Hemsworth also nabbed that same $15 million payday for Captain America: Civil War and Thor: Ragnarok, respectively and for the upcoming fourth Avengers film as well.

While the details for the Black Widow film are being awaited, it is also the fact that Marvel does not pay that much amount for the first venture.

As a matter of fact, Robert Downey Jr. took home only $500,000 for the first Iron Man. Johansson pulled down a low-seven figure salary for the first Avengers movie in 2012 as compared to Downey’s $50 million, after making her debut in 2010’s Iron Man 2. Still, Chadwick Boseman was given a seven-figure paycheck to star in Black Panther. According to the sources, $2 million, which well tops Robert Downey Jr.’s first showing.
