‘The Witches’ new trailer shares a glimpse at the new adaptation of Ralph Dahl’s classic children’s story starring Anne Hathaway and Octavia Spence.
This latest iteration of the classic adaptation is directed by Robert Zemeckis, who is known for his iconic back-to-the-future trilogy, Forest Gump and The Polar Express.
The new trailer reveals Hathaway transforms into the evil Grand High witch, who conspires to kill the children staying in the fancy hotel.
The film was originally scheduled for release this month, but Warner Bros has announced that it will now be opening on HBO Max in the US on October 22.
Casey Bloys, Chief Content Officer for HBO and HBO Max stated that “This film, with its stellar cast, is outstanding”.
“We are thrilled to be able to use our platform to deliver timely, relevant, and engaging new content during this time when the theatrical experience is not available to everyone”, he added.
According to the film’s synopsis: From the mind of Roald Dahl and as reimagined by acclaimed filmmaker Robert Zemeckis, The Witches is a wickedly fun adventure as a young boy stumbles onto a secret coven of child-hating witches as they plot to turn the world’s children into mice. A fresh Halloween classic for this generation, in a story that celebrates courage, teamwork, and unlikely heroes, offering a completely distinct kids proposition with a quirky, delightfully twisted tone in classic Dahl style.
