Yasir Akhtar’s ’Azaad’ All Set to Start a New Trend of Film Premieres on TV

Multitalented icon Yasir Akhtar’s film ’Azaad’ will be airing on AAJ Entertainment on this Saturday. The film will launch a new idea of having film premieres on television and will support our industry.

‘Azaad’ is a joint venture of Motion Content Group and Yasir Akhtar’s company Pegasus Productions, which has its headquarters based in London.

The story of ‘Azaad’ revolves around two brothers and their mother. The elder brother (Yasir Akhtar), younger brother Aazer (Gagan Chopra), and their mother Mehru (Parveen Akbar).

According to film’s synopsis: Mehru escaped to London from Pakistan after her brother in law murdered her husband in Pakistan. London becomes her safe haven and she along with her children settles in East-End London. Aazer and Aazad befriends a lot of local people and forms a strong bond with their next-door neighbor Yasmin (Momal Sheikh). Yasmin’s father’s identity is kept hidden from her mother Nicola (Jodyanne Richardson) and she is in search of her father. Mehru being the sole bread-earner of the family, struggles to provide safe shelter for her sons. Both the brothers are two poles apart in every field of life. The story takes a turning point with the arrival of Dilawar (Imran Ali Asad) in London.

The film has been shot in the frosty winters of London. Parveen Akbar – one of the senior artists from Pakistan served as the mainstay of this project. Momal Sheikh stood resilient against the unfriendly winters of London and delved into her role.

‘Azaad’ will also serve as the medium to launch the careers of two actors – Gagan Chopra from London and Imran Ali from Glasgow. Yasir Akhtar’s iconic ventures like Music Channel Charts, Tapal Cinema, Mera Ghar Aik Whirlpool, Jayen Kahan Armaan, Sard Aag launched the careers of artists like Humayun Saeed, Shamoon Abbasi, Tooba Siddiqui, Zara Sheikh, Nida Yasir, Javeria Abbasi, Komal Rizvi, Fakhr e Alam, Nadeem Jafri, Armeena Rana Khan, and the list includes countless other renowned names.

Akhtar has performed ‘Saiyaan’. The song has been used as a background in the scenes of ‘Azaad’. ‘Saiyaan’ a Sufi song and is composed, written, and performed by Yasir Akhtar. The lyrics of the tune coveys the message of peace, love, and harmony. The music is arranged by Sohail Keys and Zahid Ali. ‘Saiyaan’ is folk-rock.
