The movie shattered the opening record for R-rated films previously held by the first “Deadpool” ($132 million) and notched a spot in the top 10 openings of all time.
As reported, in the top domestic opening weekends ever, “Deadpool & Wolverine” is seated in 8th place between “The Avengers” ($207.4 million) and “Black Panther” ($202 million), bumping “Avengers: Age of Ultron” ($191.3 million) out of the top 10.
The movie continues to perform well, particularly in international markets, and it is expected to surpass the $1 billion mark if the current trend continues.
The movie has received generally positive reviews from critics. It holds a 78% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with praise for its action sequences, humour, and the chemistry between Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Hugh Jackman (Wolverine).
