John Wick Franchise Expands with New Installments

Lionsgate has announced significant developments in the John Wick franchise, confirming John Wick: Chapter 5 with Keanu Reeves reprising his role and Chad Stahelski returning as director.

The franchise is also expanding with an animated prequel and a spinoff centered on Donnie Yen’s character, Caine.

John Wick: Chapter 5 will see Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski team up once again, following the massive success of John Wick: Chapter 4, which grossed over $440 million worldwide.

The new installment is part of a broader expansion that includes two upcoming spinoffs: Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas, and the Donnie Yen spinoff, which is set to begin production this summer.

The animated prequel, directed by Shannon Tindle, will explore John Wick’s backstory, focusing on his “Impossible Task” to free himself from the High Table. This story takes place before the events of the first film and will feature Keanu Reeves voicing John Wick.

Additionally, Lionsgate Television is developing series like The Continental: From the World of John Wick and John Wick: Under the High Table, with Stahelski and Reeves serving as executive producers. An immersive John Wick experience has been launched in Las Vegas, and a AAA video game based on the franchise is in development.
