Ryan Reynolds Plans Exciting Deadpool and X-Men Team-Up Movie with Ensemble Cast

The project is still in early development and separate from the upcoming X-Men reboot

Ryan Reynolds is currently developing a new Deadpool movie that will feature a team-up with three or four members of the X-Men. Unlike previous solo Deadpool films, this project is envisioned as an ensemble piece where Deadpool (Wade Wilson) may take a supporting role rather than being the central focus.

As reported, Reynolds is independently writing various treatments for the film, aiming to explore the dynamics of Deadpool alongside other mutants from the iconic X-Men team, where Deadpool plays a supporting role, keeping the character’s distinctiveness intact while expanding the mutant universe on screen

Reynolds has expressed that he does not see Deadpool joining the X-Men or Avengers in a traditional sense, as that would represent the character’s “wish fulfilment” and effectively end his unique narrative. Instead, he prefers to keep Deadpool somewhat isolated, even within a team setting, to maintain the character’s chaotic and meta-humorous nature.

This new project is separate from Marvel Studios’ official X-Men reboot, which is being written by Michael Lesslie and is expected to release after 2027. Reynolds has not yet pitched this Deadpool-X-Men team-up movie to Marvel Studios, and it remains in the early conceptual stage.

Speculation among fans suggests potential X-Men characters like Storm, Gambit, and Colossus might appear, although no official casting or character confirmations have been made. The project aims to build on the success of “Deadpool & Wolverine,” which grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide, by continuing to integrate Deadpool into the broader Marvel universe in a fresh way.
