Authorities demolish famous Hassan Square Food street in Karachi

The anti-encroachment drive continues at its full swing, targeting various areas of Karachi. The latest casualty was the famous food street located on Hassan Square in Karachi.
In the ongoing anti-encroachment drive, the concerned authorities have demolished the food street at Karachi’s Hassan Square after being ordered by the Supreme Court, on Saturday.
Several eateries were in business at this location from decades. It has been the famous eating point for hundreds of Karachiites, the hit food items on the list were Sajji, fried fish and Kata-kat.
According to the statement issued by Karachi Development Authority (KDA) officials, “The food street located at Hassan Square’s, Service Road has been demolished along with the market located behind Baitul Mukarram.”
Statement further says, “The anti-encroachment operation from Hassan Square to Safari Park has been completed with the next phase of the operation removing encroachments located in Safoora Goth.”
The KDA State Enforcement Cell has also demolished Junagarh Lawn located near National Stadium.
Various shops located at Burns Road were also demolished by the authorities with the help of heaving machinery. That includes famous Waheed Kabab House.

This was one of the most lively streets adjacent to Burns Road in Karachi with Waheed’s Nehari, Babu Bhai’s burger and roadside fish waala. All these eateries attracted hundreds of customers every hour. It has been a famous food land mark of the city.
Today, there’s nothing left for the food lovers of Karachi. People will surely miss the delicious treats available at the Burns Road. Many foodies are already in grief.

Earlier on 22nd of November, anti-encroachment demolished several eateries located on Rashid Minhas road, Karachi. Famous roadside restaurants that included Shahi Shinwari, Shaheen Shinwari & Shahid Shinwari near the famous Millennium Mall were demolished.
As being reported, a day earlier, the SC had ordered authorities to continue the anti-encroachment drive without any interruption and immediately remove encroachments.
