Dubai Airport Handles 92.3M Passengers, Retains Title as Busiest International Hub
The airport's traffic surge is particularly noteworthy as it surpasses the pre-pandemic record of 89.1 million set in 2018

Dubai International Airport (DXB) has achieved a remarkable milestone by welcoming 92.3 million passengers in 2024, marking its highest annual traffic ever and solidifying its position as the busiest international airport for the tenth consecutive year.
This impressive figure represents a 6% increase from the previous year when DXB handled 86.9 million passengers.
The airport’s traffic surge is particularly noteworthy as it surpasses the pre-pandemic record of 89.1 million set in 2018, showcasing a robust recovery in air travel following the challenges posed by COVID-19. December 2024 proved to be especially busy, with 8.2 million passengers recorded that month alone, contributing to a total of 440,300 flight movements throughout the year.
India remained the largest source market for travellers using DXB, with approximately 12 million passengers, followed closely by Saudi Arabia and Britain, which accounted for 7.6 million and 6.2 million passengers, respectively.
Despite the significant increase in passenger numbers, DXB maintained high operational efficiency, with 98% of passengers waiting less than 10 minutes at departure passport control and nearly all waiting under five minutes at security checks.
Looking ahead, Dubai Airports plans to invest around $35 billion over the next decade to expand operations at Al Maktoum International Airport, which is projected to handle up to 260 million passengers annually once completed.
This ambitious expansion will further enhance Dubai’s strategic position as a global hub for tourism and trade, reflecting its ongoing commitment to improving connectivity and service quality in the aviation sector.
