Eid ul-Adha Likely to Be Observed on June 7 in Pakistan

The final official date for Eid ul Adha in Pakistan will be confirmed by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee based on moon sighting

Eid al-Adha in Pakistan is expected to be observed on June 7, 2025. This prediction is based on astronomical calculations indicating that the Zil Hajj moon will not be visible on May 27, as the moon will be only about 11 hours old at sunset, which is too young for sighting.

The moon is likely to be visible on May 28 when it will be over 35 hours old, making the start of the month of Zil Hajj on May 29, and consequently Eid ul Adha on June 7.

In contrast, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is expected to observe Eid al-Adha on June 6, 2025. The Emirates Astronomy Society forecasts that the crescent moon marking the beginning of Dhu al Hijjah (Zilhajj) will be visible on the evening of May 27 in the UAE, making May 28 the first day of the month and setting Eid ul Adha on June 6.

The crescent of Zil Hajj is expected to appear at 7:02 AM UAE time on May 27 and remain visible for about 38 minutes after sunset, increasing the likelihood of its sighting.

Eid ul Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. The festival is marked by prayers, family gatherings, and the ritual sacrifice of livestock, with the meat shared among family, friends, and the underprivileged, symbolising compassion and charity.

The final official date for Eid ul Adha in Pakistan will be confirmed by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee based on physical moon sightings
