Syrian Couple Slammed For Spending $95,000 for Gender Reveal on Burj Khalifa

A Syrian influencer couple Anas Marwa and Asala Maleh have caught everyone’s attention with their biggest ever gender reveal. The couple reportedly spent $95,000 to have the world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa lit up in blue color with the text “It’s a Boy” displayed on it to reveal the gender of their second born.

“We wanted to do something unique and memorable so that we can all look at it in the future and remember what we built as a family,” Asala told a publication.

“The big news just can’t get bigger than this as the world’s tallest building lights up to reveal the biggest gender reveal ever! Congratulations @AnasMarwah and @AsalaMaleh,” the official Twitter account of Burj Khalifa also announced the news.

As per reports, Anas who is the son of an exiled Syrian opposition leader may have had the event sponsored. However, many who saw the video also criticized the couple for their lavish spending in times when Syria is torn apart and almost 12 million of its people are displaced.

“At a time when our people live in the Levant in the camps and in the open and are killed by poverty, hunger, and alienation, this child gave a loud party in Burj Khalifa to find out the gender of his child,” a Twitter user wrote.

“Syrians are displaced internally, displaced externally, in squalid camps and under trees, hungry, in need of aid, food, baby milk, and medical supplies and treatment,” another tweeted.

The couple boasts 7.71 million subscribers on YouTube and the gender reveal video itself got 16 million views.

Many took to social media to show their dimayal:
