In a bizarre case reported from the United Arab Emirates, a husband was sentenced to six months in jail after attempting to use black magic to regain his estranged wife’s affection.
According to local police reports, the husband contacted a sorceress via WhatsApp, providing detailed information about his wife, including photos, videos, and their phone numbers, to facilitate the black magic ritual. The sorceress initially demanded 20,000 dirhams for her services, which the husband agreed to pay.
However, she later increased the demand to 25,000 dirhams. When the husband refused to pay the additional amount, the sorceress threatened to expose the entire scheme to his wife by sending her incriminating images.
Ignoring these threats, the husband sought help from a second sorceress, paying 10,000 dirhams, but this attempt also failed. He then approached a third woman who offered her services without any monetary demand.
Police investigations revealed that the wife had already filed for divorce and left the marital home two months prior. The wife became aware of her husband’s black magic attempts through a third party and filed a formal complaint with the police, providing evidence of the activities.
Following the complaint, authorities arrested the husband, and he was later sentenced to six months in jail for his actions.
Cases involving black magic and fraudulent practices to manipulate personal relationships have been increasingly reported in the Gulf region. Authorities often treat such acts seriously, especially when they involve harassment, fraud, or threats.
