In a surprising move, Kevin Hart’s vegan fast-food chain, Hart House, has closed all of its locations after just two years of operation. The decision to shut down comes amid reports of financial difficulties and challenges in maintaining a consistent customer base.
Launched in 2022, Hart House aimed to offer a plant-based alternative in the fast-food industry, promising healthy and sustainable options. Despite initial enthusiasm and high-profile support, the chain struggled to gain long-term traction in a competitive market.
Hart House opened its first location in August 2022 in Westchester, a block from Los Angeles International Airport’s busy In-N-Out Burger. The second location in Monrovia debuted in November 2022, while University Park opened in June 2023.
While its flagship store opened in 2023 at a high-traffic Hollywood location near competitors like In-N-Out and Chick-fil-A.
The closure has left many employees and customers disappointed, as Hart House had been well-received for its innovative menu and commitment to veganism. Hart himself has not yet commented on the reasons behind the abrupt shutdown or the future of the brand.
