Lahore Lion Attack: Owner Arrested, Lion Shifted to Safari Zoo

According to police, the lion had escaped after the gate of its enclosure was accidentally left open at a farm house.

A court in Lahore has ordered the transfer of a lion, which attacked children in the city’s Johar Town area, to the Safari Park. The owner of the lion has been arrested, and a case has been registered against him.

The incident took place on July 3 when a pet African lion attacked a family as it escaped a farmhouse in Johar Town, injuring three people, including two children.

The injured were rushed to Jinnah Hospital, where the condition of the two children was reported as critical.

According to police, the lion had escaped after the gate of its enclosure was accidentally left open.

The Wildlife Department took immediate action and confiscated the lion from the owner, identified as Malik Behram, who had been keeping the animal illegally.

Wildlife Inspector informed the court that the lion was seized from Behram’s possession on the night of July 3, following which Judicial Magistrate Hassan Sarfraz Cheema issued a written order to shift the animal to the Safari Zoo.

Police confirmed that the owner has been arrested, and a case has been registered under attempted murder and other relevant sections. The incident has raised serious concerns about the illegal keeping of wild animals in residential areas in Pakistan.
