Pakistan observes Earth Hour
Lights at the National, provincial assemblies and other state buildings were turned off from 8:30 to 9:30 pm, as Pakistan observed Earth Hour.
The Earth Hour is part of the global campaign to raise awareness about climate change and its impact on the planet’s vanishing biodiversity.
Earlier the government’s official Twitter handle also urged the public to switch off excessive lights for sixty minutes at 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

The UAE Embassy in Islamabad also participated in the global Earth Hour initiative aimed at raising awareness on climate change and environmental issues by turning off lights.
The 13th edition of Earth Hour is organized by the green group WWF. It will see millions of people across 180 countries will turn off their lights at 8:30 pm according to their local time to highlight energy use and the need for conservation.
This year’s #Connect2Earth campaign aims at creating awareness regarding the importance of saving nature as our lives depend on its health. Participation will mark Earth Hour by switching off unnecessary lights for the hour to symbolize a commitment to change beyond the hour.

Global landmarks from the Sydney Opera House to Dubai’s Burj Khalifa also observed the Earth Hour by turning off their lights to raise awareness about energy use and planet Earth’s vanishing biodiversity.
According to the organizers, last year Earth Hour was observed in more than 7,000 towns and cities in 187 countries.
