Punjab Govt Announces Comprehensive Smog Prevention Policy
Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said that preparations had been going on for the last 6 months to remedy the smog and now strict action is being started to implement it.
The Punjab government has launched a comprehensive policy to combat smog, which includes the introduction of 30 smog-free electric buses in Lahore.
Key measures include fines on smoke-emitting vehicles, a ban on plastic bags, monitoring factories through computerized systems, and transferring brick kilns to modern technology.
Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb emphasized strict actions for compliance and urged public cooperation to prevent smog from spreading to other cities.
While talking to the media Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said that preparations had been going on for the last 6 months to remedy the smog and now strict action is being started to implement it.
She said that public and private constructions will be under government SOPs, crop residue burning and shifting of brick kilns to zigzag technology, as well as fines will be imposed on smoke-emitting vehicles and motorcycles.
Maryam Aurangzeb added that a complete ban on plastic bags has been imposed, a computerized system has been introduced for monitoring factories and factories and 30 new e-buses are being ordered for public transport.
She added that this time there is a possibility that the scope of smog will spread to other cities besides Lahore, to prevent this the citizens will have to cooperate.
In response to a question, Maryam Aurangzeb said that it is the responsibility of the political parties to correct the political pollution of the country.
