Sri Lankan Artist Honours Arshad Nadeem with Tribute Painting After Historic Olympic Win
The painting is an abstract depiction of Nadeem and his mother
Sri Lankan artist Mueen Saheed has honoured Pakistani Olympian Arshad Nadeem by dedicating a special painting titled “The Throw” to him.
This tribute comes in recognition of Nadeem’s historic achievement at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he set a new world record with a javelin throw of 92.97 meters, securing Pakistan’s first Olympic gold medal since 1992.
Saheed presented the painting during his recent art and cultural tour of Pakistan, which included major exhibitions in Lahore and Islamabad.
The artwork, now part of the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) permanent collection, features an abstract depiction of Nadeem alongside his mother, characterized by Saheed’s signature style of layered brushstrokes and intricate small square.

According to reports, this painting not only celebrates Nadeem’s remarkable accomplishments but also symbolizes his role in inspiring unity among fans across borders.
The presentation ceremony held at the PNCA in Islamabad earlier this month, part of the artist’s “Passages of Light” exhibition, was attended by key figures in the arts and culture sector, including PNCA Director General Muhammad Ayoub Jamali and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar.
“Arshad Nadeem’s story is one of resilience and humility,” Saheed explained.
“His victory at the Olympics and the moments of sportsmanship with his Indian counterpart, Neeraj Chopra, were powerful examples of unity in competition.”
