The Milk Powder Industry in Pakistan

Millac has become an essential part of powder milk consumption in Pakistan

Pakistan is one of the largest consumers of powder milk in the world, with a significant portion of its population relying on this product as a source of dairy. Even Pakistan’s Federal Minister of National Food Security and Research also stated that Milk Powder is an essential component in driving up local production and going away from the reliance on imported goods.

Millac Foods is the key player in the local market of powdered milk which competes with the international players of the dairy market as it has become an essential part of the country’s dairy consumption. Millac entered the dairy sector in the Pakistani market in 1967 as the country’s first premium dairy family. With over seven certifications and accreditations from worldwide and governmental regulatory authorities such as the FDA – United States Food and Drug Administration, BVQI HALAL Accreditation, and Pakistan Standards of Quality Control Association. Millac Foods is a symbol of purity for a society that is always questioning its food supply. The Millac Family is a dairy family tree that serves every part of the market, not only a carefully tested and regulated milk brand.

A brief history of Millac Foods begins in 1967, when the Horlicks brand of England established Pakistan Milk Food Manufacturers Ltd. (PMML) in a little town called Jhang in Pakistan’s midlands, with the family holding a modest piece of the firm. The family bought Pakistan Milk Food Manufacturers Ltd. (PMML) in 1970 and was granted rights to use the Horlicks brand name. Millac Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd. was created in 1973 when the company began importing high-quality fat-filled milk powder from Ireland under the brand name Millac. Millac has subsequently become a household name in the milk business.

Powder milk is a type of milk that has been dehydrated and transformed into a powder form, making it easier to store, transport, and consume. One of the most popular brands of powder milk in Pakistan is Millac, which has become an essential part of the country’s dairy consumption.

In Pakistan, powder milk consumption is prevalent in both urban and rural areas. Many people consume powdered milk as a substitute for fresh milk, which can be difficult to obtain in certain parts of the country. Powder milk is also used in the production of various dairy products, such as yogurt, cheese, and butter.

Secondly, the product is known for its high quality, which is achieved through a rigorous production process that ensures that the milk is free from impurities and has a consistent flavor and texture.

Another reason why Millac has become an essential part of powder milk consumption in Pakistan is its affordability. The product is priced competitively, making it accessible to consumers of all income levels. This has helped to make Millac a household name in Pakistan, with many families relying on the product as a primary source of dairy.

Despite its popularity, powder milk consumption in Pakistan has faced some criticism in recent years. Some health experts have raised concerns about the nutritional value of powder milk, arguing that fresh milk is a healthier alternative. However, for many consumers in Pakistan, powdered milk remains a practical and convenient choice.

In conclusion, powder milk consumption is prevalent in Pakistan, with many consumers relying on this product as a source of dairy. Millac has become an essential part of this consumption, thanks to its high-quality, affordability, and long-standing presence in the market. While powder milk consumption may face some criticism, it remains a practical and convenient choice for many consumers in Pakistan who may struggle to obtain fresh milk.
