US Consul General Celebrates Sindh Culture Day
The consulate officials donned traditional attire, including colourful Ajrak shawls and Sindhi caps
U.S. Consul General Scott Urbom and his team celebrated Sindh Culture Day, extending warm wishes and messages of peace to the Sindhi community.
Sindh Culture Day, also known as “Ekta Day” or “Sindhi Topi Ajrak Day,” is celebrated annually on the first Sunday of December. This year, it will be observed on December 3, 2024.
U.S. Consul General Scott Urbom and his team expressed their greetings in Sindhi, saying, “Sindh jo sakafati deharho mubarak hojay,” which translates to “Happy Sindh Culture Day.”
The consulate officials donned traditional attire, including colourful Ajrak shawls and Sindhi caps, showcasing solidarity with the local culture.
“Sindh’s rich heritage, known for its mystics, Sufis, poets, and saints, is a symbol of tolerance and inclusivity,” Scott Urbom said. “On this special day, we celebrate the values of unity and peace that Sindh stands for.”

The day highlights Sindhi heritage, symbolized by the traditional Sindhi Topi (cap) and Ajrak (block-printed shawl). Celebrations include cultural events, rallies, and musical performances across Sindh and other parts of Pakistan.
