‘Himmat’ beautifully describes a person’s journey through depression, from losing hope, being suicidal and then gaining the courage (Himmat) to live. Fahad sings about this in an effort to reduce the stigma and taboo associated with speaking about mental health. Fahad believes having a song which discusses depression helps remove the stigma and taboo associated with mental health.

Fahad Ahmad is a singer, musician and actor (most recently seen in drama Khasara).

To launch Himmat, Fahad performed with the renowned flute player Rahat Ali at a number of live events and shows on mental health day. In addition to performing his single live, Fahad spoke about his experiences with mental health at various locations around the city; including on Dawn News’ morning show ‘Chai, Toast aur Host’ with Dino Ali; Karwan-e-Hayat’s event for the patient’s and practioner’s of mental health and an event at Lincolns centre and pacc arrange by Roohbaru on mental health awareness.

He also spoke about mental health issues and performed his song live on Dino’s radio show ‘Dost Kya scene hai ‘ Fm91, and Rush hour with Wess Malik on cityFM89 where he spoke candidly on depression and mental health. Wess Malik praised his song as one of his finest works as it came from the heart.
Fahad believes in the need to talk about mental health and Himmat adds to that narrative. This unique composition uses flute as a character that creates a haunting ambiance to tell the story of a person’s journey from darkness to light.

The single was co-produced with Kamijee, formerly of Aaroh and producer of late Junaid Jumshed’s last two albums. The single was recorded in Boston at Attic studio
