Mahira Khan is the voice of all young brides in Dua E Reem

Whenever Mahira Khan and Shoaib Mansoor come together they create a meaningful message on the screen, Bol and Verna are two examples of that.
This time the Showman has created his own version of Allah Iqbal’s poem Lab Pe Ati Hai Dua Ban Kay Tamanna Meri, but speaks the heart of every bride in the track titled Dua E Reem.
The track begins with a group of elderly women making a prayer for a new bride. The prayers are all weighed down under the norms of our patriarchal society where a woman should be thankful that her husband has only slapped her and not beaten her up. The prayers ask the bride to bear everything quietly even if there are complaints in the relationship and she suffers as a consequence.
Mahira as the bride first hears everything peacefully but when she cannot bear any more she stands up to make a prayer for her own self.
As the new bride, Mahira prays for mutual respect, love, and affection amongst the spouses and to be confident enough to handle matters on their own.
Its a beautiful narration speaking of what the heart of every bride yearns for. Damia Farooq has lent her vocals to the track.
