Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi for his services for music and country.
In a ceremony held at the Arts Council of Pakistan in Karahi on Tuesday, the music maestro was also honoured with a lifetime membership of the council.
Rahat dedicated the award and his music to all fellow Pakistanis across the globe and to Arts Council.
The evening saw Sindh Minister for Culture Syed Sardar Ali Shah and playwright Anwar Maqsood also in attendance at the event.
The provincial minister lauded Rahat’s contribution in the field of music speaking at the ceremony. “Rahat has carried forward the legacy of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, which is a combination of classical and folk music,” he said.
A concert featuring Rahat and Abida Parveen will be organised in Karachi to send out a message of peace to the world, he announced.
Anwar Maqsood and Rahat then engaged in a conversation, that was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.
Later the council shared the message of the music maestro on social media for all his fans.

Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan expressed his joy over receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award and Honourary Membership and dedicated the award and his Music to all fellow Pakistanis across the globe and to Arts Council.
“It was an honour for ACP President & Governing Body Members to present the Lifetime Achievement Award and Honourary Membership to Living Legend Rahat Fateh Ali Khan who planted a tree at our premises to showcase his solidarity with ACP,” the council shared in a tweet.
