It was earlier this month when song of John Abraham’s upcoming film “Satyameva Jayate”, Tajdar-e-Haram came to limelight.

The song featured a famous qawwali sung by none other than the Pakistani Sabri brothers, Tajdar-e-Haram. The original makers of the qawwali were however not contacted before the track was produced for Satyameva Jayate and therefore, Shumail Maqbool Sabri, son of late Maqbool Ahmed Sabri, has sent legal notice to the Indian film makers for coping the lyrics of famous Qawali without permission and has called out the composers for theft.
Shumail hails from the renowned Sabri clan which is renowned worldwide for their association with Qawallis. The song was originally performed by Maqbool and Ghulam Farid Sabri, known as the Sabri Brothers.
Shumail, claims to be the rightful heir to his father’s music and has shared his concerns and details with the local media. The copy of sent legal notice is also available with the local media, that states the concerns of the legal heirs for unlawfully copying the lyrics of the Qawali written and composed by late Maqbool Sabri.
Sabri has also quoted that, “In the past, whenever my father’s songs were used, we were never given any royalties. It was also very disappointing to watch the video of the Bollywood remake which was originally supposed to be a holy track”.
