Another young man was killed for resisting robbery in the Gulshan e Iqbal Block 7 area of Karachi

The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Itteqa Mooen Khan, who was buying some food items from a bakery near his home on Saturday when the armed men tried to snatch his motorcycle, but he resisted.

But the robbers first shot him and then stole his new motorcycle, mobile phone, cash and fled.

According to the police, the young man died on the spot due to the bullet injury, and the body of the deceased was shifted to Jinnah Hospital for autopsy.

The deceased was a chemical engineer and employed in a private company.

Gulshan Iqbal Police has registered a case on the complaint of the victim’s brother Ibad.

The victim’s brother said that his brother had gone out to buy some goods from the bakery and the incident happened two streets before the house.

As reported, the police have also found a shell of a 9-millimetre pistol from the scene of the incident, which has been sent for forensics.

However, the spokesperson for East Police said that a departmental inquiry has been ordered over the incident.

According to a news source, police have confirmed that the incident took place during a robbery bid and that two suspects on a motorcycle were responsible for the firing and managed to escape following the incident.

Police said they were trying to obtain CCTV footage to help trace the suspects. 

Karachi, the country’s financial hub, has witnessed a significant rise in street crime incidents recently.

So far in 2024, at least 71 people lost their lives in street crimes.
