Israel-Hamas Ceasefire: 354 Bodies Recovered From Gaza’s Rubble Since Jan 19 Agreement
Gaza is covered in approximately 50 million tonnes of rubble and debris, which could take up to 20 years to clear.

A total of 354 bodies have been retrieved from the rubble in Gaza since the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas began on January 19, 2025.
This ceasefire was established after a prolonged conflict lasting 15 months, which resulted in significant casualties on both sides, with estimates indicating over 47,000 Palestinian and 1,706 Israeli deaths during the conflict and early all of Gaza displaced.
The United Nations reports that between January 22 and 28, the remains of 171 Palestinians were recovered from the rubble of bombed buildings across the Gaza Strip, according to Al Jazeera’s latest Gaza situational assessment.
Efforts to locate those killed during Israel’s 15-month offensive on Gaza continue, with a total of 354 bodies retrieved since the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas began on January 19, the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated, citing Gaza’s health ministry.
OCHA further estimates that Gaza is covered in approximately 50 million tonnes of rubble and debris, which could take up to 20 years to clear.
