A 5.8 magnitude earthquake has jolted different northern parts of the country on Thursday afternoon. The tremors made people in many areas to come out in open from their homes and offices. So far, there have been no reports of casualties and damage.
Earthquake jolts shook Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Chitral, Swat. The tremors were also felt in Peshawar, Hazara Division, Mardan, North Waziristan, Shangla, and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the epicenter of the earthquake was in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, with a depth of 251 kilometres.
This is the second earthquake in Pakistan within a week. Earlier, on September 9, a 5-magnitude earthquake was recorded in Islamabad and parts of Kashmir at 11:40 am. The epicenter of the earthquake was in Kashmir near the Indian border, with a depth around 12 kilometres.
