Celebrities urge govt to cancel exams amid surge in COVID-19 cases

A number of celebrities have urged the government to cancel exams or promote the students on their previous records amid a surge in COVID-19 cases.

For the past couple of days, the social media timeline in Pakistan has been trending with hashtags #cancelcieexams2021, #CancelExamsSaveStudents, #ImrankhancancleEXAMS, and #cancelexams.

A number of celebrities came forward requesting the government to reconsider its decision as the lives of students can be in danger due to a surge in coronavirus cases across the country.

Aagha Ali also took to Instagram to request government.

the Yaad Piya Ki Aaye actor in an Instagram story said, “I’ve been getting 100s of messages from students all over the country, and trust me all they say makes sense. Almost all institutions, schools, and colleges have been closed and we all know how useful online classes were.”

“Apart from this, the new wave of coronavirus is here and getting worse every day..and is taking many lives. So is this risk really worth it? Please postpose the exams or promote the students on their previous records,” he added.

“The whole country have been going through a lot of pressure and this is only giving students extreme mental stress. Please! notice #cancelexams,” Aagha concluded.

 

Meanwhile, Feroze Khan also took to social media to share his concerns.

Khuda Aur Mohabbat actor tweeted, “cancel exams save lives.”

 

Reality show host Waqar Zaka in his tweet said: “Peshawar to ISB and now Sindh high court ordered that exams will not be cancelled, my apology we tried but it’s @ImranKhanPTI, Prime minister is the one who can cancel it ,khan sahab sari fame apko hi miley gi don’t worry but relief de dou students k.”
