Achakzai-Led Opposition Alliance Opts Out of PTI Islamabad March
According to well-placed sources in the PTI and the TTAP, the alliance's leaders hold a different viewpoint
The Mahmood Khan Achakzai-led opposition alliance Tehreek-e-Tahafuz Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) has decided to avoid the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) “do-or-die” protest today planned for Islamabad. This decision comes amidst differing viewpoints within the alliance regarding the nature and scope of the protests.
The alliance’s leaders believe in a comprehensive planning approach for nationwide protests rather than participating in a singular event organized by PTI.
Despite PTI founder Imran Khan’s request for collaboration with the opposition alliance, the consensus among Achakzai and his allies is to maintain their distance from the upcoming demonstration. They are focusing on a broader strategy that involves engaging various segments of society over time, rather than joining PTI’s immediate protest efforts.
This divergence reflects ongoing tensions and strategic differences within the opposition landscape in Pakistan, particularly concerning how best to challenge the current government led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
